Ky's usual 'wandering' route seemed to always end up with him passing by the staircase. It wasn't always a bad thing, since newcomers tended to arrive from there, but it made his wonder if it was the City that was drawing him towards there. Did that mean that he should go up the stairs and investigate? Or was that a trap?
Maybe it was just the fact that one could not miss the stairway while going back to the tenements. It wouldn't do to dismiss the possibility of being drawn, however. Ky kept it in the back of his mind.
He paused in his steps, as well as his thoughts, as he neared the stairway. Was that a voice he heard? He couldn't see anyone just yet, but he should probably make sure. He strained to listen in order to confirm his suspicion.
[ooc: i'm not sure if Luc's already dead or not. ^^;]
Pain. There was pain everywhere, but he welcomed it, leaning falling against his brother and he groaned, slowly sinking to his knees.
Sasarai had picked a strange way to kill him. They were both mages, skilled in the own right but with the tendency to keep their distance, as the development of their powers usually meant that there would be a disinterest in learning actual physical combat. But Sasarai had killed him while holding him.
Fitting, as Sasarai seemed to enjoy throwing it into his face that despite the nature of their relationship, it was still bastardized.
Coughing up blood, he reached up a hand to touch the area of his abdomen where the sharp, jagged edges of earth speared him.
"You have another chance," Sasarai was telling him, his expression that of feigned remorse and guilt. Just like his infuriating smile. "If you come with me, I'll bring you Sarah. She wants to see you again."
It didn't matter if it was a voice anymore, what he now heard was something more alarming.
"Halt!" He heard himself shout, even before he was moving to face the scene before him. Drawing his sword, he dashed out of where he was 'hiding'.
It was as bad as it sounded; there was already someone gravely injured by some sort of magic. On instinct, Ky charged up his own lightning. He had to stop whatever was going on!
Sasarai had turned his attention elsewhere, staring and smiling at the blond newcomer. Looking between his brother - his breath was labored already, close to the brink of death and he couldn't help but be pleased to see him suffer so, all so that he would redeemed, yes - and the other man, he glanced down at the sword held between the two groups.
"It's rude to interrupt, you know." The Priest said, tilting his head. "Do you mind?"
There was pain everywhere when he woke up, reminding him of those days when he'd been in campaign after campaign during the war - which war? He didn't know; the war had ended, didn't it? Every one of them, and this wasn't any different, but there wasn't a war, not anymore. He was dead, was supposed to be dead, but there was Sarah and Sasarai and-
Why am I still alive?
He cracked his eyes open, the lack of good lighting easing his vision as the dark edges faded and all he could see was white and blond.
Ky jumped - there was no other way to describe it - and nearly dropped the body that was in his arms. Luckily, he was quick enough to prevent any falling from happening. He was already in the process of laying the body down on the grass so it wouldn't have been a big drop. It still would have been unpleasant to the other person, though.
Laying the body on the ground completely, Ky answered as calmly as he could. "My name is Ky Kiske. Don't be alarmed, I'm here to help."
As he spoke, he reached to feel a pulse on the other man's neck. It was there, beating like it had never been lost in the first place. It was only then that Ky remembered that he hadn't taken a pulse in the first place. Did he miss it? Even if he did, which was unforgivable, surely there wouldn't be a pulse now. The wound was large and bloody, and far too deep to recover from without medical help.
Ky pulled his hand away with a puzzled expression. "How are you feeling?" he asked.
He nodded, watching the man examine him and closed his eyes, feeling very light, achy and hurting in many areas, most of them centered around his abdomen. But despite it, he felt whole and quite... healthy.
He hadn't felt healthy in a long time. Not since his Rune began to rebel against him.
"... better." He whispered, feeling his lips crack and licks his lips, feeling very dehydrated. "Where are we?"
"We're in a park near the neighborhood," Ky answered. After a slight pause he added, "Within the City." Just in case the man was new here.
Ky quickly double-checked the wound area, finding it healed. While it was good to see the injury gone, the fact that it was gone made things very suspicious. With reports of others dying or missing, why was this man's injury healed so quickly? And by who? The healing could be considered a blessing, but that was such a rare thing in this city. There had to be something else that he needed to keep in mind...
He focused his attention back to the other. "Try not to move too much," he advised. "At the moment, we're out of danger. May I ask for your name?"
