Sigh

I just found out that round-trip flights to Manila in April are around 2500 RMB. That's just under $400. This is maddeningly tempting. The problem is, I will want to take some of my vacation days to go there if I decide to go there. I have three days off work at the beginning of April and three days off at the end of April (apart from my ( Read more... )

I hope you can find a way to get to travel more! I would have a hard time not myself. When you are done with your work, can you not tack on a month or two to just travel around Asia? I guess that would mean being away from Rudy longer, and I know (I totally know) how hard that is, but given it to do all over again, I would travel as much as possible while it is easy (i.e. just you and a backpack, or you and Rudy and a backpack). I hope you can go!! I would love to hear what you think of the Philippines.

Yeah, it's not a bad idea to potentially stay in Asia a tad longer after my contract is up. My visa will switch over to a tourist visa once my contract finishes, I believe, so I could do a little more exploring before I leave. We'll see. I'm not sure how things will be then, but of course if Rudy and I are still together, I will be anxious to be back close to him again. I'll just take things as I go.

It would be hard to choose how to spend that remaining time. It would take so much time traveling back and forth to San Francisco--not to mention the cost--that I might be tempted to spend my vacation time in Asia. Of course, it would be ideal to take extra time once you are finished teaching to stay and use Shanghai as a base to visit other places.

Yeah, but I have already planned on visiting SF at least once during the year I'm living here here. I really want to go back. That said, it's not a bad idea to potentially spend an extra month or so exploring more of Asia after my contract is up here - my visa will turn into a tourist visa once my contract expires.
