So I just discovered that
Open Diary deleted my old diary. This makes me mad. It was my very first online diary/journal thing, and I liked to look at it every now and then for nostalgia reasons. Now it's gone, forever. It's just not right of them to completely erase it. I'm so glad LJ never does that unless you ask them to.

Is there someway to download your LJ so you can save it to a disc or something??

Some clients let you export as well (and might be more convenient, I'm not sure). I use Linux so I just do it from that page and don't bother trying to find something easier (I doubt it's out there for Linux). Anyway, I have used the export feature countless times to download my journal. I download my entries and delete them after (I clear out old entries cos I'm obsessive like that). The only downside (which is actually a pretty large downside, but I accept it) is that you lose your comments.
LJ never deletes journals though. Never. As far as I can tell, that will never happen. I've been using this site 5 years now. If any of my old journals are gone, it's because I deleted them.
