well people can steal your information from anything, not nessecerilly through having direct access to your computer. thats why they invent firewalls.

Yeah, I am firewalled though, so I don't think anyone stole it by hacking into my network. It probably either happened in the hotel or some employee at one of the companies I've bought something from recently mishandled my info. It's hard to know who to trust, really.

Not knowing where the thief got your information makes a person feel vulnerable. My brother recently got his identity stolen, and the perp has opened credit accounts at Lowe's, stolen a couple of vehicles, was tasered by the police after he took off after a routine traffic check... The sad thing is the police had the guy in custody, but he gave them my brother's name and info. When they let him out on bond, he went on another spending spree. My brother has spent hours on the phone trying to get his name cleared.

I'd like to put that guy in a cell and taser him until he coughs up where he got my brother's social security number and Wal-Mart credit information.

Wow, I'm so glad my situation wasn't nearly that serious... I'm just hoping I can prevent something like that from happening in the future!
