Nikolai's Room at the Arms, Monday Morning, Before Classes

Sep 08, 2014 15:22

It had been a very long and very tiring weekend for the little klipspringer that was actually a girl. There had been the necessary kicking anytime she'd been called a goat and the fretting every time her oddly-shaped MateProtector had gone out of sight. The time he'd been hidden behind the Great SquareWood the hid the place of BrightLightLotsWater ( Read more... )

All-in-all, sleeping with a tiny antelope on his chest was easily accomplished, for Nikolai. Growing up he'd kept dogs, after all, and Banzai in klipspringer form was actually smaller than some of those mutts had been. So, once he'd shut off the TV last night and decided to just stay on the couch, falling asleep had been simple.

... It wasn't like he could get up without waking up Banzai, after all.

He woke up quickly enough when she changed back, however. It wasn't that she was too heavy. Kathy was a slight woman no matter how you looked at it. But you could still fit five tiny antelope inside of a grown adult woman, and the extra weight had him exhaling in a rush, blinking awake and staring at her, wide-eyed.

... It took him a few moments to realize why he was staring. And then he was torn between scrabbling for his shades or clapping a hand over his eyes, while trying to maybe nudge her awake. On the shoulder. The very bare shoulder, there.

Jesus fucking Christ.

"Mmm?" Kathy didn;t so much mumble as exhale with intent, before burrowing closer. She was sleepy and it was much too early to be awake. Besides, she was quite comfortable where she was, thank you.

Well, that wouldn't last for too long. Nick had no goddamn clue where he'd dropped his shades. Probably onto the floor after he fell asleep, which was going to do him absolutely no good now. So he had his eyes really, really firmly closed as he poked her shoulder again for good measure.

"Hey, Banzai? Kathy? You, uh, might want to wake up."

Maybe. He couldn't say for sure. But there was a chance of that being the case.

"Dun wanna," Kathy mumbled, nuzzling her face closer to Nick's neck. "Sleepin'."

Look, it had been a really long weekend and she was exhausted. So why was he bothering her right now?
