Raven and Kathy were officially moved in!
Okay, not everything was done and most of their stuff was still at Eliot's, but they'd gotten a lot of work done painting and assembling furniture and most of what was left could be moved over a bit at a time. Which meant...it was close enough to being fully moved in that a small party was warranted.

And once she'd been shown how to use a paint roller (she'd carefully stuck Mr. Bubbles somewhere safe so he wouldn't get paint on himself) she was doing pretty okay at helping!

"Psst," she whispered. "Look what I ended up getting."
And she held up a little stuffed toy cactus.

But toys were hard to keep secret since they delighted her so!
She made a squeal of delight that was hastily stifled. Alluka made no move to touch it, since she didn't want to get paint on it, but she beamed at both Raven and the cactus.
"It's adorable," she said brightly. "Where you going to keep it?"

It was even the reaction she'd been going for.
"I've got a little cabinet to go under one of my windows in my room," she said. "I think it'll go nice right there. So it can get lots of sunlight."
Which was important for a stuffed cactus.

"Do you wanna wear an old shirt of mine?" Kathy asked. "I'd hate for you to get paint all over your clothes."

Well, she did, but what if Kathy didn't have very many clothes left after being all gone and then coming back with nothing?

She smiled. "And then you can have an old t-shirt of mine to wear to get dirty if you want."

Alluka was kind of a clothes snob.
"But, but if you're sure, it's probably a good idea..."

Kathy disappeared into her closet, prodding through a box until she found an old, oversized tee that she'd worn for yoga and gymnastics practice. It was worn and faded and very soft, which was why Kathy had kept it over the years. "This work?" she asked.
