In memoriam

I'm probably crying right now for purely selfish reasons.

I have now lost both of my "favorite" uncles.
Uncle Richard, my dad's brother, died of a heart attack when I was a freshman in college (spring 1992) I don't remember the date. I just remember that I was in a play that weekend and no one told me until Monday that he died so it wouldn't " ( Read more... )

Again, I'm so very sorry for your loss. I know it doesn't make you feel better but I'm sure your uncle knew how much you loved him. I'm sure he would understand if you couldn't make it to the funeral. B/c honestly, the person who was your uncle has moved on and isn't there anymore. It may be best to remember him as you have him in your mind. Or find a way to pay your respects in your own way? Perhaps write a statement to have read at the funeral or in the paper?

Tears are cleansing. Mourn for those you loved, and still love, and when you're ready, remember them in their best moments.

May their memories be eternal and may they find rest where there is no pain nor suffering, but only life and joy unceasing.
