The difference between a bit torrent site and something like Kazaa is that you aren't actually downloading the file itself from a bit torrent. Bit torrents share information between all those signed on who have the file.

In order to use a bit torrent you first have to download a program which runs them. I have azureus. ( http://azureus.sourceforge.net/ )

Once you've downloaded and installed the bit torrent program you can go wot a bit torrent site such as

BiteNova: http://www.bitenova.org/search.php
Pirate Bay: http://thepiratebay.org/

Or others. You search for the file you want and download the torrent. That's not downloading the file itself. That's more like downloading a location to a file rather than a file (that's not literally what it is, but it's similar in concept ( ... )

MusicMatch is a player if you're looking for an MP3 player.

I got you, and yes, that makes perfect sense. (and right now I'm using Limeware, but if it doesn't work out or there's not enough of the songs/etc. etc. I am looking for, then I'm definitely looking at Bit Torrent next)

I-Mesh and Limewire are two different things. I have Limewire and I'm very happy with it.

I just tried Limeware and I'm liking it. (Keeps fingers crossed) thanks for that.. Now, if I can just find the files when they download.. ha!

Once it is downloaded, it is in the library, under shared files.

One note on BitTorrent -- it's considered polite to leave the program up until you've uploaded at least as much as you've downloaded. :-)

Here's a site with a few torrents on it, including "Mal's Song", a reworking of the Firefly opening theme: http://www.cyphertext.net/escapekey/songs.html

I've got tons of files that people would definitely like to have, but I'm not sure if they are "torrent" ready.. I'm still kind of fuzzy on how it all works.

Anyway, with the video portions, I'll most likely be ripping soon. (Scares myself).. But not tonight, I have to go watch LOST.

Hmmm. This look useful for putting up your vids? http://blogtorrent.com/ I don't know what kind of setup you currently have.

LOL. I was hoping that was you because the similarities were freaking me out.

Shipperx explained how BT works pretty good.

Yes you can use torrents to make vids. Once the file is completely downloaded it's just like a regular file.

Also speed wise, it depends on how many people are seeding (have the full file) and how many are leaching (have bits and pieces). If there are few seeding and many leaching it may take longer, but compared to the P2P programs I've used I think it goes pretty fast.

That's okay, I found some halfway decent files and made that video before WinMx shut down.. ;)
