Note: Written for the sasunaru100 challenge “Chapter 307.” Contains spoilers for chapter 2. Er, I mean, 307! Really! Ignore the fact that I haven't read it! Totally in a crack AU, but the idea is there. I think.
Summary: The not-so-triumphant return of Uchiha Sasuke, detailed within.

There was a moment when he stopped counting every day, every hour, every horrible agonizing second that they had been separated. At first, every detail of the passage of time had been etched into his brain. He couldn’t escape it. Now, he stopped caring how long it had been. Now, Naruto was before him again, just beyond his reach, tantalizing.
Sasuke couldn’t breathe. He stood in silence, contemplating. Such beautiful blue eyes… He chided himself softly for almost having forgotten them. They were still so perfect, so brilliant, so deliciously his and his alone. Because they were looking at him, weren’t they, those pretty eyes? Locked with his own at first, but slowly dripping down his body, taking in every last inch of now-mature flesh; Sasuke felt a shiver run down his spine, mentally naked under the look Naruto was giving him.
He needed to get closer. Moving down, he reached out, catching the smaller boy’s shoulder with a habitual smirk. Close enough to feel the heat of Naruto’s breath, he watched with anticipation as the blonde’s lips parted slightly, a thin pink tongue flicking over them softly and making something hot start to curl in his stomach.
Then Naruto burst out laughing.
“Oi oi, teme! What the hell are you wearing? Are you supposed to be a pirate or something?”
“Naruto,” Sakura snapped, eyes and fists clenched tightly closed in frustration, “can you please focus here?”
“Are you even seeing is costume, Sakura-chan? He looks like a pirate!” repeated the laughing tone of Naruto’s voice, entirely sunny and cheerful, just as if this were an old Team 7 mission and they would go home any minute to get ramen with Iruka.
“Maybe he was tired of being a ninja,” Sai suggested, tapping his lip thoughtfully with his index finger. He was promptly clocked by Sakura.
“That’s just dumb, though,” Naruto shot back, twisting under Sasuke’s grip on his shoulder to shoot looks over at his current teammates. “Everyone knows that ninja are better than pirates.”
“Excuse you? Pirates are totally bett-Sakura-chan, would you please stop that!” Sai yowled, just managing to duck the blow this time around as the pink-haired girl started railing on him.
Snorting softly, some ‘pirates are just dumb’ comment on the tip of his tongue, Naruto turned back to Sasuke - who was nowhere in sight.
Orochimaru sighed, gently petting the spiky hair of his prize pupil as the so-called ‘genius’ sobbed quietly against his shoulder. “So Naruto wasn’t impressed?”
With a stifled sob, Sasuke shook his head.
“I told you pirates were a bad idea,” the snake sannin tsked softly with a shake of his head. “Come on, chin up. We’ll try cowboys next time. Everyone thinks chaps are sexy.”
[a/n] In the fight between ninja and pirates, there can be no clear winner. But if the ninja and the pirates ganged up agianst the cowboys? Wow. That would be a true battle. Anyway, I'm on chapter... er... 81 or something of Naruto. So all I know about Chapter 306/307 is that Sasuke is a pirate who gives Naruto a hug while Sakura and Sai fangirl and there is swordplay or something etc wtf spqr. Hopefully this is not too far from the truth of the matter.
