Just to add to that, as a New Zealander. The American GIs who fought the Japanese Army back in the Pacific were heroic! Achilles would bow, and offer them top seating.
My Mum was doing the practice with the Elementary School kids last week [the very little ones find it difficult to do the silence unless they've had a practice] and the lad that was doing the thing you're supposed to say instead of saying "and the years condemn" said "and the years condom" so my Mother had to be all "eerrr, no Joseph that's not the words, it's condemn dear, condem, shall we try that again?" which is why practice is important, however the service went off fine today so all is well.
