just wondering

Is there any interest in rebooting the Sapphire and Steel community? I've been 'queued' out of Sapphirensteel and was wondering how many other people are having the same issue there.

Has it been abandoned?

I think it has. The owner hasn't had any contact with it since 2009 and she lived in Tel Aviv. LJ says that only she can release it, but there are so many things in her queue that she is nearly maxed out.

I'm really new to S&S fandom and kinda new to LJ. I don't know what it means to be "queued out" and I sure do want there to be S&S comm.

Mod queue is when either the submissions/posts to a community or the requests to join a community (or both) require the 'okay' from the mod/owner. In the case of sapphirensteel, the owner had been MIA since 2009. You can post some stuff, but there is a lot that you can't. I think that's driven a lot of folks off and LJ won't entertain letting someone else take the community over.

Which only shows the importance of not making a community a one man band, extra mods are always needed.

Exactly. If only LJ would go in and release everything that's been stuck in the queue for the past six years, but they won't even do that.

Sounds like you'll need to make a new community for it and refer to the other one as the "archive"?

That's sort of what I'm thinking. Other communities have done this successfully and I just wondered if there was enough interest to try it with S&S.

It should be worth a try. (You can usually get round the queue thing by posting something without a link and then editing to add the link, but that's not exactly something a casual poster would do.)

If you posted to the comm to say it's now closed, this is a lovely archive and we can all be found having fun at 'new comm' and element_flash, maybe?

It's annoying that LJ won't let anyone else have the comm, because that would be the best solution. :-/

Or maybe we could get Kitten Mommy to open up Elemental Flash as the new community and we just link to the other. I will approach her with this idea!

Hmm, that's an idea... Though, on the other hand, it's quite nice having a challenge comm & it's often easier to make a new thing than have to rewrite profiles etc. (So much easier to accidentally leave the wrong bits - or maybe that's just me.)

Depending on which works out, if it's a new comm, I would be happy to be a mod (and make sure the tagging works, unlike the old one). :-)

I will so take you up on this is the decision is to go with a new comm. It does make sense to keep the fic and the other stuff separate.

PM me?
