up early because it’s cold, so I decided to check my email and I can post this now.

The fire crackled softly, casting a warm glow across the loft. Derek leaned back against the couch, watching as Stiles paced, his expression shifting between focus and something Derek couldn’t quite name.

"It's important, Derek," Stiles said, hands waving as he tried to articulate his point. "We need to create something real, something solid...us."

Derek raised an eyebrow, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Us?"

"Yes. Us," Stiles replied, stopping mid-pace to meet Derek's eyes. "It feels surreal sometimes, but...it’s real. Isn’t it?"

Derek reached out, catching Stiles' hand, grounding them both. "More real than fire."
