It's a huge sacrifice to be in the military both then and now. I respect all who serve.

I'm still sad that I wasn't able to serve. Both of us enlisted, but we were 4-F - a thing that nearly broke TBG's heart.

It's a day to honor everyone who did what I could not.

It was my eyes... sigh. It was during selective service and they didn't have to take everyone, so in my case, they didn't.

really? well they don't - not ALL of them. For example the section of the British Army that carried out Bloody Sunday don't deserve my thanks. We don't get to disown them certainly, but I'm not going to thank them for that and pretend it was protecting freedom. I might apologise to them for putting a bunch of kids into a situation they werent trained for, but I'm not thanking them.
