The words didn’t want to play well together this week….
Sunlight sparkled on clear, blue water, creating a scene that was inviting, almost playful. It was an illusion. Thrush invited only misery, and international espionage was not a game.
Illya studied the graceful mansion and elegant grounds skeptically. “Why would Thrush place a satrap here?”
“Because the place is gorgeous?” Napoleon suggested.
“It would also be costly to maintain and difficult to defend,” the Russian countered.
“Your education in economics has been skewed toward Communism,” Napoleon huffed. “You need to learn to enjoy fine aesthetics.”
Illya shrugged, hefting his bag of explosives. “I do enjoy a fine pile of rubble.”
spikesgirl58 you did wonderfully, and I’m glad you went with Buffy as I sneaked onto your turf!
“Choosing a birthday gift for Miss Rogers is not purely a question of economics, Mr. Kuryakin,” Alexander Waverly observed. “Of course, sir. That’s why I chose Grace Brothers for our shopping excursion. If you will join me at that counter…” A squeal caught their attention. “Wot’s your game?” A female voice protested. “‘ands off!” “Napoleon is making a scene,” the Russian said. “Excuse me.” Another slight blond man took his place at Waverly’s side. “Perhaps I could assist sir?” “Thank you. You are a ray of sunlight!” Waverly smiled. “Humphries at your service, sir. Allow me to assist you!”
