Napoleon shot his cuffs as he examined the glittering facade. “Tre Sorelle … Three Sisters. That sounds promising.”
“It’s what you are supposed to think,” Illya huffed as he stationed himself in the shadows. “Three lovely Italian girls … who will turn out to be in their nineties … if they exist.
“You’re such a cynic.”
“It will be a typical New York City restaurant - exclusive clientele, exorbitant prices, and food that is barely eatable.”
The senior agent paused, feigning an afterthought. “You’re probably right about the prices. You’d better loan me twenty dollars.”
“I can’t,” Illya said, deadpan. “I forgot my wallet.”
“Not far to the way station, we can get assistance there.” Illya’s tone was chilly - almost as frigid as the weather. “I apologized for getting us lost…” “Napoleon! You forgot to secure lodging, and the hotels around here are exclusive - and full.” “I’ve never had a problem here before.” “The way station is run by the Sisters of Holy Hospitality, my guidebook said.” “They are renowned for their food - which is so much better than eatable!” Solo said, as if that were an afterthought. “As I am terribly hungry, that might alleviate the tension.” Solo smiled, knowing his partner’s priorities.
