My grandather fought in WWII. He was technically too young to enlist but his older brother got him in. He went to war because his mother was struggling to support him and his 10 siblings. The tragedy reaches far.

My dad wasn't able to enlist (he was only 4'10"),but both my brothers did and I tried, but was 4-F'd because of my eyes.

Your grandfather was a good man! thank you.

My dad, a 92-year-old Korean War veteran, is proud of his service. And so am I. Thank you for this lovely post.

Beautiful. Lots to remember today.

My dad retired from the Army and was in WWII and Korea. My husband retired from the Army and was in Viet Nam. My son was in the Navy and was part of Desert Storm. I have three brothers. 1 in the Navy, 1 in the Army, and one in the Air Force. And that's just my immediate family. I guess we definitely qualify as a military family. And proud of it.

Happy Veterans Day.

Yeah, I was in a funk all day because of it. So many brave folks have left us that much better for their sacrifices. I was never ashamed of my military connections. I just wish I'd been able to join up. Sigh...
