That sound like a fantastic day, even if it did start out slow for you. I am facinated by the 'stange' names for the towns. Tired rolling my tongue around my tongue around them but it just isn't working.

What? No pictures? What ever will Fred do if he doesn't have pics to remind him of his adventures?

It's 5am here and I was doing just fine till I read about the food. Starving now...send some. Use carrier pidgeon if you must. :)

It happens cause quite a lot of the Welsh place names are examples of 19th & 20th Century back-naming in order to encourage tourism. The most famous example being...
"Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch"
Portmeirion and Porthmadog also being examples of a 20th century name that has been chosen for their Welsh-soundingness. But going massively retro, while cool, does regrettably mean ignoring centuries of pronunciation evolution which can make things a tad complicated.

If I were using the old name for London is would probably be something like Plowonida mewn Kantion. And I have no idea how to say that.

oh yes and see Spikes is travelling to Dover, Kent but is gets significantly harder to figure out how to pronounce it if I write it Dubrās Kantion.

I think Chris may have had the pigeon for his starter.

Sounds lovely, especially the parfait - love anything pistachio! Sorry about the heat wave. The only time I was ever there I panicked when I found out our room didn't have ac and heaven forbid - no screens on the windows; I just knew we'd be eaten alive. We were not only safe in our beds from a nocturnal bug invasion, it actually turned off quite cool and a blanket was needed. *hugs*

p.s. I have a new Marilyn icon, courtesy of my friend, Nverland, what do you think?

Love it!

We only had trouble with flies and we kept the windows wide open most of the time just to catch any sort of breeze.

A shame you didn't get to see Snowdon Park. And the restaurant closure. Still, it sounds like you had fun and a pool is a good way to cool off even if a bit colder than you liked. I'm sure you got acclimated quickly enough.

We did see the park, sort of, we just didn't get to the top of the mountain. It was so packed the day we went, it didn't surprise me that the trains were all sold out.

We are pretty flexible when it comes to things, especially on vacation. Otherwise, you make yourself crazy!
