Yeah, I think that since Robin thinks Barney is cheating on her in the next episode, it makes her reaction in tonight's episode make a little more sense.
But, if tonight's episode is a precursor to how Robin is going to act at the thought of Barney cheating or being with other women, I think their breakup in ep. 7 is going to end up being reaallllly angsty. When Barney starts sleeping around in ep. 8, she is not going to take it well, I don't think.
And yeah, I'd prefer for them to have issues early on (because neither of them are good at being in a relationship and Barney's not used to it at all) than to have them be happy for a long time and then all of sudden manufacture some problems. That said, I hope it's not all angst, all the time. I want them to have fun together, since that's one of the main reasons I like them.
I have such amazing, fiery hatred to this spoiler that he's going back to his slutty ways in episode eight. Seriously, writers?! You spend a season showing him grow and change, and try to maybe become someone who could have a relationship with Robin, and after EIGHT EPISODES, he's back at square one?! Why bother getting me invested in that story at all?
I was-and continue to be- worried that the break up will require some seriously OOC behaviour, and I think Robin's reaction to the strip club was an unfortunate precursor to that.
They're not the greatest at commitment and relationships, I get there. There's got to be a very steep learning curve for them if it is going to work, I get that, too. But this dooming them from the get-go, I don't understand and do not appreciate at all. It is not good storytelling, it's playing with the audience. Them having troubles would work for me- I just really, really hate that he goes back to his ways afterward.
I don't actually have a problem with that as long as he comes to some sort of realization that the reason he is doing it is because he doesn't know how to deal with emotional pain. I'm hoping that his womanizing will been shown to be more pathetic than awesome, and that he will see that as well.
I really believe that is the whole point of it. He decides to go back to this lifestly because that's all he really knows and avoids to deal with the break-up that way. In the end, not even him being awesome can change things so I hope that's what they're going for here.
Yeah, I really hope we get at least one or two more episodes of them being great together before they break up. I agree and really doubt the episode 7 break-up will be the end for them and that it will probably eventually lead to them working out some issues, but if it's super-angsty until then it's just going to depress me a lot. I want more fun, damn it!
And I also hope Robin gets to have her problems in relationships addressed as well, like her total avoidant streak and her discomfort with intimacy and all that great stuff.
Barney going back to his old ways seems to be shown that he doesn't know how to deal with the break-up. This issue of Robin annoyed that he goes to strip clubs was kinda nice to me. I might be the only one who enjoyed it and didn't think it was OOC but I think it makes perfect sense for next week's episode where she fears he's cheating on her. And seems like things will be more clear by the end of the next epi.
Obviously the break-up isn't gonna be the end for them, just one of the many stories that are coming up with them. Everything will still be about them even if they're apart.
I don't think it was OOC necessarily, but I did think her reaction was kind of weirdly violent for someone who has in the past sat in a strip club with Barney and Ted, eating turkey without batting an eye. Like, I don't think at all that it would be weird for her to not want him constantly going to strip clubs once they were together but I was kind of surprised by how vehemently disgusted she was, if that makes sense?
IDK, I just don't want to have to watch them fight all the time.
I only hope that issue will be dealt with in next week's episode. Because it's weird that she cared about this but I'm sure she has good reasons since it's Barney

I liked it and I can't even fully articulate why -- I think I like it because it shows some jealousy on Robin's part? Last season, we got Barney's throwing televisions and sad faces, but not much from Robin. It makes sense in a way, I think -- if Barney can go from supporting Robin's hook-ups to freaking out about them, Robin can go from being cool with strip clubs to getting upset that Barney's going to them (without telling her). I don't know why she's calling strip clubs "disgusting" (and that she went straight to "did one of your whores tell you that?") but I'm chalking it up to the fact that she's already full-on crazy/jealous/paranoid. I also liked how Barney was trying to make her feel better about the whole thing ("I really don't come here that often"... plus lots of cute Barney faces, his arm around her in the booth). I don't want them
