Windows Live/MSN Messenger.

This is probably a stupid question (aren't all my questions stupid? Don't answer that..), but do you have to have a hotmail email addy to create an MSN/Windows Live Messenger a/c?

A friend of mine was trying to create one, and couldn't see a way around having a Hotmail addy. He has a Yapoo addy atm.

msn messenger, windows live messenger

I've always used a Yahoo email address for mine but maybe they don't let you do that now. I registered for mine about 5 years ago and I've used the same one ever since!

well thats odd because I have an acquaintence over in the UK who uses a virgin.net email address for msn messenger and it works just fine for him so I'm not sure. I would think windows live messenger would do a form of addy without hotmail but who knows. Is windows live the same thing as MSN?

I have a hotmail account but then again I've had it for a long-ass time.

I think once you create an MSN account, you are automatically given an email address. That's why all MSN accounts are a screen name followed by @hotmail.com. You don't have to use the email address though. It's just like a freebie thing they give you, I guess!

So do we think he has to get one of those Passport.net thingies?

I don't know what that is, to be honest. I got an MSN account recently, and it gave me an email address, but I wasn't aware of having been given a passport.net - but I may have been without realising it! :-)
