So I really am alive

Jul 06, 2011 01:44

Guys I have the best friends, and Sunday evening marked the end of 10 days of pretty intense socializing with awesome people like aeirol, eibheall, tommyrotter, and another completely awesome lady who has an LJ but has yet to use it/share what that name is. Suffice to say, she's awesome.

Some super cool things I've been up to recently:

fandom: nine is my forever doctor, i am: busy busy busy, feelin' like: god it's been a lovely day, life: listen to my day, fandom: doctor who, life: friends, fandom: fringe, fandom: assassin's creed

Got into Fringe so hard.

YESSSSS NOW I CAN SHARE THE SET OF VID RECS I ALREADY HAD PREPARED FOR THIS VERY OCCASION. But I don't want to ruin things for you and I'm pretty sure they all show spoilers for the third season, so -- is that a deal-breaker?

My life is not particularly exciting either. Right now I'm mostly just reading and internship-hunting and watching hummingbird drama unfold outside my window. And also trying to wrestle my feelings on Luther (short version: I HAVE A LOT OF THEM) into some kind of coherent post, because that show has given me the sociopath + hero friendship of my dreams. After ten years of getting lured into some really disappointing fandoms by my love for that character dynamic, I have finally found perfection.

Why am I not surprised you have vids for Fringe? :) Okay, now for the ubiquitous question: have you actually seen any of this show? And I will answer for her, as we're watching it together, that you can post vids as we are already spoiled for a bunch of things (mainly because we HAD TO KNOW about whether Olivia and Peter actually got together omg best dynamic ever).

Okay, and now for the rest: what hummingbird drama? And what is this Luther thing that so entices?

I've... seen the parts of the show that people put in their vids.

We've managed to lure at least three hummingbirds into the undeveloped lot next to our house by hanging a feeder on our porch and planting lots of flowers that hummingbirds are supposed to like. One of the birds is huge (well, for a hummingbird; he's still smaller than my fist) and territorial; the other two are tiny and wily. Once one of the little birds snuck in for a drink while the bigger bird was busy chasing off the other one, and while this might be a willful misunderstanding of hummingbird brain capacity and social dynamics, I like to imagine that they planned that.

Luther is ostensibly a crime drama, but it's mostly about the lead detective's life and psyche and beautiful super-awkward friendship with an adorable sociopath. (I have been looking for Alice Morgan all my life she is flawless.) The show starts out pretending that it's going to go down the Obsessed Nemesis route, which hey, I've never said no to, but about two episodes in that trope gets tossed ( ... )

You should watch it. spiderstars, back me up on this, she should watch it. It has bitchin' characters, truly awesome and touching relationships, and a sufficiently interesting plot not to scare us off (okay so it's kinda cliched sometimes, but that's okay!). So, watch more of it than is in vids. >:)

<333333333333333 SO CUTE take pictures and post them!!!

Okay, I'll have to check it out! I need something to watch while watercoloring anyway, perfect excuse. :)

No life. I sit on the couch. Case in point: I turned 21 and sat on the couch. Occasionally when my computer gets too hot, I will put it down and start trying to finish a godawful book I don't even know why I started. It's like, an extended Sherlock Holmes fanfiction, and seeing as I can't stand Holmes without Watson, and whenever Watson is in it, mini!holmes likes to talk about why he wasn't a good partner...yes. It drives me nuts. And it's in first person, which, ironically enough, is a perspective I find really hard to read if the narrator and I don't gel...and the narrator is mini!holmes. NEVER READ THIS BOOK.

But I guess this is how summer was before I started working at the Glen, so...

Oh, but I watched all of Raising Hope. Now I have to cancel my hulu-prime account or whatever it is. They gave me a 1-month free trial because I have a .edu e-mail address. Whooo!

Oh yeah, and I watched Percy Jackson in German on the way home from London. I really liked it. Once I finish this shit book, I might start to read the series...

Sorry I didn't comment earlier; I legit haven't had time yet.

Glad to hear life's been going well on your end! Even if it's everyday stuff, like spending time with cool people and finding things to enjoy. Always makes life better.

I've been doing pretty alright; mostly really busy this week. Need some new fandoms. And feet. Ya.

Peace. (Because I cannot come up with a better signout.)
