Not much to say other than knock-knock to everything in this post! (I may not have been in a co-op in six months, but double-knocking will always be the most emphatic way of expressing agreement!)

I kind of want to strangle this woman.

She's kind of a hypocrite if she thinks Judy Blume books are "clean" compared to today's stuff. Times change, kids change. Sheesh.

And let's not get started on the sex and violence in the Bible...

You might should want to talk with newsboyhat. She works in YA literature and is a lovely person. Interesting conversations could be had!

(Also, love and hugs to you. One of these days we will figure out how to actually talk...)

Uhg, just lost a really long comment due to my dumb work computer. Anyways, yeah, completely asinine article, YA is SUPER important, I got more out of it than pretty much anything else in my high school years, 'dark' lit serves a purpose (empathise! educate!), teens deserve much more intellectual credit than they're given, etc, etc. Found it funny that out of the 'recommended' books, the only two I've read are from the boys side. I was heartened a bit at least by many of the comments, esp one from a nineteen year old who wrote extensively and intelligently about the issue.
