When I used to go to Pennsic War, there was a commedia dell'arte troupe that performed every year (there may still be one or two, I dunno), and it was wonderful.
Lucky person! Know that I Sebastiani, the greatest commedia dell'arte troupe in the Known World, not only still performs, they're *based* in Boston! antoniseb posts regularly on rehearsals. They graced my peerage vigil with "Laurel Advice in Three Minutes or Less," which is why I now know that marshmallow peeps are the center of the universe. Am I not the most fortunate of Laurels?
I Sebastiani! Yes! That is them! And they're here in Tiny!Town? OMG now I must be reassimilated by the Carolingian Borg! And they did a commedia just for you? YOU ARE INDEED the most fortunate of Laurels!
Yep! I'm not sure when their next performance is, but antoniseb (Master Anton of Winteroak) regularly posts reports on their practices. I believe Mistress Rhonwyn glyn Conway is the current director, in addition to being one of the most skilled illuminators in the East.
And btw, my SCA name is Sarah Davies, in case you ever see a reference or hear my name. I'm the first (and so far only) quilting Laurel in the Society, and the Minister of Arts & Sciences for Bergental, the Barony in the western part of Massachusetts.
When I USED to go to Pennsic...turkchiefDecember 23 2006, 01:41:39 UTC
August is only 6 months away, and I happen to know this funny little Household who you could pro'lly camp with. I have some pull with their Chieftain...TC
Does a panto on Bermuda count, that being a Territory and all? If so you may be supremely jealous of me, as I have not only seen one, but worked backstage.
I met the director at the last-night cast party, and made some comment to the effect of "I can't believe I came ALL THE WAY down HERE to work a show" Spaketh he "oh, you're down from Saint George's?" Replied I "NO, New York!" He was rather surprised!
...and YES you really ought to get involved with the SCA up there, and back to Pennsic once again.
