She Was a Rotten Egg

Well, they were five rotten eggs, and they totally snuck up on me. Yesterday morning I made pancakes. Having finally learned my father's recipe (or rather "suggested amounts of ingredients" because my dad doesn't do recipes), I was very excited to make them. For those of you who have never had the pleasure, these pancakes are not only the best ( Read more... )

Holy Crap! Power Rangers is Saved by the Bell subtlegray September 12 2006, 16:15:43 UTC
i've never thought about that before, but you're right.
If we can somehow unlock the key to why it didn't work we'll be the next big hit on the WB... er... MyTV that is.
Perhaps it has something to do with the characters on Saved by the Bell always knowing what is the right choice (not throwing the party while Screech's Mom is out of town) and what is the wrong choice (throwing the party and breaking the Elvis bust).
The Power Rangers, if i'm recalling this correctly, always chose what's right.

To go even further, I would even be so crass as to say that "Power Rangers" is infact a representation of the battle between the good and the bad thoughts of the "Saved by the Bell" characters (all the time the main six, and only sometimes - Mr. Belding, Max, and teacher/new-friend du jour). It's a very basic Angel/Devil on each shoulder concept, with Zoltar representing the absolute of good, and that crazy, dubbed-over, yelling Asian lady is the absolute of bad/evil. The rangers represent the factors of why bad things should not be done (throwing a party in screech's house when parents are out of town), and the monsters that they fight represent why you should not make the bad descition (Elvis will break, and not be able to watch screetch's mom cook). At first the monster will always seems like it will win, by beating the Rangers in the first battle (the party actually being thrown, Elvis being smashed), but the rangers come back by envoking their Mega-Zord powers to finally over-come the monster (The gang going through the ( ... )

i can't believe we're having this in depth of a philisophical discussion on how SbtB relates with PR.
But while we're at it, the Angel/Devil on the shoulder is a great analogy for a connection between the two shows.
There can be parallels drawn between Alpha and Zordon's relationship to Screech and Zack's relationship, but the idea is still to fresh to make any formal judgements on.
Oh, and another thing i was thinking about was the direction of the actors themselves.
Kelly ends up on Fox, Pink Ranger ends up on WB (now dead, but probably unrelated).
Does anyone know if the Red Ranger bleached his hair?

Well there is no way of knowing about the actor who played the red ranger because all he ever did was power rangers, and then disapeared, from the movie/television scene anyway. Also, the later careers of the actors involved is something interesting to look at, apparently non-ninja teenagers have an easier time getting work.
