There were days when Torus Storm found himself bored. Then there were days when he found himself driven to the point where he was tempted to take a leap out the nearest window and fly for the horizon just to see what would happen. Or go Spider-Girl hunting

Jake was preparing himself a Grimm special. A huge ten level sandwich with salad, tomatoes, and whole wheat bread and three slices of ham and cheese. He was just adding a last bit of cherry tomato.

"Bet you can't eat all of that in one bite," Torus said, perching on the counter. He knew it was a bet he was likely to loose, but such was life. And it would be funny to see.

"Oh come on Torus, you know how my dad feels about me taking your money in a suckers bet like that."

But he was already crushing the sandwich down and getting ready to bite in.

"If you didn't take sucker bets, you wouldn't win at all," Torus pointed out. "You'll just be winning your five bucks back."

"You've got that look on your face again."

There might have been some genuine hurt in Torus's voice, though he managed to keep it off his face.

"Fine. Whatever. I'll go find something else to do."

"There you are, Torus." Lyja put her hands on her hips. She liked keeping a close eye on her son, especially with all the trouble he got into every day. "What are you up to?"

"I can honestly say 'Absolutely nothing,'" Torus said, hands sunk into his pockets as he slouched on his way. "And if somebody says I did something, they're lying."

"Nah, he's still in the trying to get me to make a fool of myself stage, before actually doing anything."

"I'm only telling you the truth. There aren't many things harder than changing your reputation, especially if it's bad." She poured herself some milk as she spoke.

Somehow, the contents of Torus' snack managed to disappear far quicker than it had taken to find them. "You did," he managed to get out around a mouthful of strawberries.

"I did." And Torus had no idea and never would know just how badly she had acted before she got her head together and started acting like a member of the FF. "So you should trust me when I say that."

Torus grunted, chasing the last piece of cucumber around his plate with a finger, which he morphed into a claw to spear it with. "Lecture over?" he asked, propping his chin up on his hand.
