RomancePrompt: 02. Hope
Rating: PG-13
Challenge:
drabble123 Summary: He knows his hands are dirty, but that doesn't mean hers have to be that way.
Words: 200
Notes: Sort of a failed attempt to address the issue with Kagura's Yato blood. Not entirely satisfied with this one.
Okita could tell the exact moment Kagura returned to her senses by the way she tensed. Her thrashing ebbed as she finally stopped fighting the impromptu sleeper hold he'd been trying to use to slow her down.
“You awake now, China?”
“You?” She blinked.
“You're seriously annoying.” He remarked blandly. “You know that?”
“And you're a jerk.” Kagura retorted automatically. Still half-dazed, she took in their battle torn surroundings in confusion before her gaze slowly fell to her hands. Eyes widening in horror, she sputtered. Her breath caught sharply in her throat. “W-what did I-”
“Don't.” He cut in abruptly. Rather than loosening his grip, Okita's arms tightened about her waist. “I had to cut some people down. You were in the way, that's all.”
She blinked again, brushing aside the lingering effects of her blood with a frown.
“You...”
“Just leave it, China”
It didn't matter that his uniform was spotless or that she was covered in blood that clearly wasn't her own. He was Shinsengumi, after all. If adding a few more to his body count helped protect the innocent it was just another day at the office.

RomancePrompt: 16. Rose
Rating: PG-13
Challenge:
drabble123Summary: Okita knows just the right way to get to a girl's heart, sort of.
Words: 200
Notes: The 7th sign of the apocalypse: fangirls.
Kagura regarded the individual standing on the Yorozuya step with open suspicion. Her eyes moved from the decidedly bland expression on Okita's face to the proffered bouquet of roses and back again. She crossed her arms over her chest.
“We're not buying any magazine subscriptions right now. So go the Hell away.”
“Come on, China. All I'm asking for is one date. I even brought you flowers.” He shook said flowers hard enough to send a handful of petals tumbling towards the ground. “Aren't girls supposed to like romantic shit like this?”
“And? What's in it for you?”
“Kondo-san says I'm not allowed to put booby-traps out to stop my fangirls anymore. I figured if I asked you out they might stay away out of self-preservation.”
Out of the many things wrong with that statement Kagura was fixated on only one.
“You have fangirls?”
“Apparently.” Okita shrugged. “Jealous, China?”
“Hardly.” She began to shut the door, only to have the roses thrust in the way.
“There's something in it for you too, you know.”
She snorted in disbelief.
“Free food.”
“Alright.” The door slid open. “Let's talk.”

RomancePrompt: 12. Believe
Rating: PG

drabble123 Summary: It isn't trust, but sometimes rivalry means they'll watch each others backs if only to keep the competition away.
Words: 200
“This is a stupid idea.” Ducking down behind the wall they were using to avoid gunfire, Kagura regarded her companion with poorly veiled irritation.
“You say that like this whole situation is my fault.” Okita remarked blandly. “Who was it that got us lost in the first place?”
“T-that's completely unrelated.” She smacked the ground between them for emphasis. “Don't go bringing up things that happened in the past!”
“The past? It was just fifteen minutes ago, China.”
“And, I still think your idea's stupid! So there!” She thrust her tongue out and then had to spit up a mouthful of dust as a spurt of gunfire sent a shower of rocks down on them.
Waiting until the bullets had stopped before trying to speak, Okita slipped his katana out of its sheath.
“Well, it's not as if I'm asking for your help.” He told her bluntly. “I'm just saying a little cover would be useful.”
"Leave you to handle everything while I'm back here? Yeah right” She hefted her umbrella into position. “If I'm stuck watching your stupid back anyway, I'm going to do it from up close.”
