Wow. I don't know exactly what he said to you, but I think I can get the jist, and I think it was awful. My parents got divorced when I was in 5th grade, and I think I know exactly what you mean.

Back then, I only saw him on weekends because that's just how it was. And then when I was old enough to drive, it was still JUST HOW IT WAS. That he would ever say that anything of that nature was your fault is ridiculous and terrible.

He was absolutely wrong, and your response seems absolutely appropriate.

Holy moly I had no idea it was so bad!...it makes you grateful for the good people you do have in your life right? In my opinion being a bad/neglectful parent is one of the worst things a person can do and if what you say is true I would just cut him out of my life, he's not worth it, I think 21 years is enough proof! Be strong!
