Hi!
This has nothing to do with anything else I've posted, it's juts a little bit of insanity I came up with at work yesterday while trying to work on something else and also being bombarded bt my brain with ideas for other JP/Bobby fics (meeting as kids, running with angst, pwp, and crossdressing for justice to name just four ideas). So I wrote this. I blame my mother, ultimately. Poor Jean-Paul.
The song involved here is "I Dreamed A Dream". Fantine sings it in the Les Misérables musical.
Also, if anyone were to draw adult Bobby in his original costume but without the snow? I would be very happy. ^_^
A kitchen in the X-mansion. Betsy, Bobby, Hank, Jean-Paul, and Rogue enter. Hank pours coffee for them all.
Bobby: "I really liked your first costume, Rogue. It was stylish and sensible. The second one was also pretty sharp."
Rogue: "Well thanks, Bobby."
Bobby: "You know, both of those costumes would be in style right now. Green with white stripes? Or the sort of 80s metal look? Very in."
Rogue: "I'll go back to my first costume if you go back to yours."
Bobby: Turns crimson.
Rogue: Evil smile.
Jean-Paul: "...?"
Hank: "Nothing but a pair of boots."
Jean-Paul: Looks at Bobby, clearly getting a mental image of this.
Bobby: Even more crimson.
Jean-Paul: Raises his eyebrows. "Were you such an exhibitionist?"
Bobby: Still blushing, warbles: 'When I was young and unafraid...'
Rogue: Chimes in. 'And dreams were made and used and wasted'
Bobby & Rogue: They strike a waltzing pose, staring "dramatically" into one another's eyes. 'There was no ransom to be paid! No song unsung, no wine untasted'
Hank: Booming baritone. 'But the tigers come at night, with their voices soft as thunder! As they tear your hopes apart'
Bobby, Hank & Rogue: 'As they turn your dreams to shaaaaame!'
Betsy: Clear soprano, accent unusually strong. 'He slept a summer by my side. He filled my days with endless wonder'
Betsy & Rogue: 'He took my childhood in his stride! But he was gone when autumn came!'
Bobby & Rogue: 'And still I dream he'll come to me'
Betsy & Hank: 'That we will live the years together'
Betsy & Rogue: 'But there are dreams that cannot be!'
Bobby & Hank: 'And there are storms we cannot weather!'
Betsy, Bobby, Hank & Rogue: 'I had a dream my life would be so different from this hell I'm living! So different now from what it seemed!'
Betsy: 'Now life has killed the dream'
Betsy, Bobby, Hank & Rogue: 'I dreamed...'
Jean-Paul: Stares at the others.
Hank: Sips his coffee.
Jean-Paul: "WHY did you all break into song just now?!"
Rogue: Looks at Bobby. "You started it."
Bobby: "Yes, but Hank's the one who got the lyrics messed up."
Hank: Shrugs. "I'm not as strong on Andrew Lloyd Webber as I am on Sondheim."
Betsy: "I thought it was lovely, Hank."
Jean-Paul: Confused. "Does this happen often?"
Rogue: "No, not really."
Jean-Paul: "But you -"
Hank: Interrupts. "You should hear us do Rocky Horror Show!"
Bobby: Suddenly sits up straighter. "Oh, hey!" Nudges Rogue. "I got that episode of Buffy where everybody sings."
Rogue: Excited. "Let's go watch it!"
Bobby & Rogue: Exit.
Betsy & Hank: Serenely sip their coffee.
