“Come on, come on! We have to go pick up our tickets!” Maureen yelled excitedly as she and Joanne stood in the loft waiting for everyone to get their things together.
“Maureen calm down, we have our tickets, everything is going to be fine,” Joanne said trying to calm her super excited girlfriend.
“Pookie you don’t understand, this is Wicked, this is like the number one raved about show in all of Broadway and it starts in like two hours,” Maureen said.
”TWO HOURS?” Roger asked shocked. “Why the fuck are we rushing then?” he added and Maureen got a look on her face that said run for the hills I’m ready to murder you.
“ROGER DAVIS!” Maureen yelled. “This is Wicked, with Idina Menzel, do you know who she is?”
“No,” Roger told her flatly.
“Roger stop teasing her!” Mimi yelled from the other room.
“Mimi hurry up!” Maureen cried as she walked over to Roger. “Roger, this is Idina Menzel, she’s like, well she’s just really talented and she’s the green girl! I mean how cool is that? She’s green, and she flies, I mean come on, who can fly and sing at the same time!”
“You know what baby, why don’t we start ahead of them,” Joanne suggested. She was actually really glad to see Maureen so happy and Mimi was yelling at Roger in Spanish to stop teasing Maureen.
“Roger you leave her alone!” Mimi said coming out of the bedroom. “Okay so how do I look?” Mimi was sporting a yellow summer sun dress with white trim.
“Mmm, screw the play I’d much rather take you out of this dress,” Roger said.
“No you were mean to Maureen and we have a show to go see.
“Ooooh, Mimi chica, you look amazing!” Angel cried happily hugging Mimi tightly and the two went to fussing over each others’ clothes.
“Come on, come on, MARK, COLLINS BENNY!” Maureen shouted out to the loft bouncing impatiently by the door.
“Maureen, come on baby, you come with me and we’ll meet them all at the theater okay?” Joanne said kindly. “We can walk, we have enough time, where is it?”
“At the Gershwin, fifty first and broadway,” Maureen told her.
“Okay come on love, you can tell me more as we walk, we’ll see you all there,” Joanne yelled and she and Maureen left.

“Where are they? Where are they?” Maureen said pacing back and forth in the lobby.
“Honey you have to calm down sweetheart,” Joanne told her kindly. “Tell me honey, who’s in this play?” Joanne asked.
“Idina Menzel, Kristin Chenoweth, Norbert Leo Buttz, oh and Idina won the tony,” she said.
“Idina? What? Do you know her personally?” Joanne teased.
“No, that’s just her name, and so that’s what she needs to be called, we don’t walk around calling you Joanne Jefferson, and no one walks around calling me Maureen Johnson, although they should,” Maureen said.
“Okay, so who else?” Joanne asked.
“Who else what?”
“Who else is in this play?”
“Oh, oh, oh, Um, Joel Grey, he’s done like all these great things Caberet comes to mind but I’m so excited I can’t remember the rest. MIMI!” she cried seeing her. “BENNY!” Maureen yelled excitedly and she ran over and hugged all six of her friends. Benny, Mimi, Angel, Collins, Mark, and Roger. “You don’t deserve a hug, but I’m going to be nice anyway!” she told him.
The door opened and the usher began to let everyone in and passed out playbills. The eight of them were seated in the fifth row of the orchestra, courtesy of Benny. Maureen sat next to Benny and Joanne. “Pookie, don’t be mad,” she said and she turned to Benny and kissed his cheek. “Thank you Benny,” she told him honestly and then she flipped through the play bill. “Look, see!” Maureen cried excitedly showing Joanne the picture of Idina Menzel.
“Honey, you look like her twin!” Joanne exclaimed.
“And Benny looks like this Fifi guy,” Roger said.
“Fiyero!” Mimi corrected laughing at Roger’s comment.
“Oy Vey! He really does!” Mark said showing Benny the little slip of paper that said Taye Diggs was going to be playing the part of Fiyero. The lights dimmed and the play started.

“Elphie, now that we’re friends, I’ve decided to make you my new project,” Glinda said.
“You really don’t have to do that,” Elphaba told her.
“I know that’s what makes me so nice,” she smiled. And with that said, she launched into the pop musical number of Popular, flouncing around on stage in her pink dress.
The play continued and all too soon Elphaba was telling the world how she was going to defy gravity. Maureen sat staring in awe at the powerful notes that this woman was producing, never had she heard such notes come out of a person before.
When the curtain dropped and the thunderous applause finally stopped. “Okay Roger, so?” Maureen said turning to him.
“Okay, as much as I hate to admit it, it is a really good play, I’m very impressed,” he told her honestly.
She threw up her hands in excitement and hugged him tightly.
This was a good day, she got to see a great play with talented actors and actresses, and she hung out with her friends, all seven of them. “I can’t wait for act two to be over and for us to get home,” Maureen smiled speaking softly to Joanne.
“What? Honey you wanted to see this play aren’t you having a good time?”
“Oh an amazing time, but you don’t, at the end of act two we go home and I can have an amazing time with you,” Maureen grinned. “I’m going to do so many things to you baby, you’re going to be defying gravity just like Elphie,” she grinned.
