I just wanted to thank you for backing me up over at TF2007fun with the Megatron story. I don't think people realize just how many lives things like that effect (not the story, the topic). It always bothers me read things like that, news is bad enough, but if its just written for fun, it kinda stings. I just needed to let you know how much your comment helped.

Oh, you're welcome. I'm in the "not-approving-of" camp on that end, but I do feel that we live in a world where such things are a harsh reality. The bad guys aren't always going to play by the rules you know? In a story (as in life) rape can be a device or a vehicle for making a character find inner-strength or become dissillusioned to the world's supposed "safety." I think if it's vague and used for some greater purpose (like that character development) and it's written in a way that supposed to make you uncomfortable and sympathetic, it's okay. When it's purely for entertainment, that bothers me. Like Texas Chainsaw Massacre. How people can watch the suffering of other people for sheer giggles is beyond me.

It can be a device, but what bothers me is that very few movies and books give a realistic picture of how it really is. But I'll never understand things like Saw.
