I tend to wait far too long to update when things get eventful. Then I either omit the entire happening or am forced to update in exhaustive detail. I guess posting is like shaving. Weird, you had to go to a pointless briefing? I wonder if I ever missed one of those...

Combat boot-wise, I'm pretty sure you can't wear black boots with the tiger stripe uniform. It's sage or tan only, though there are all kinds of wacky styles that look frankly ridiculous when you get a bunch of us formed up.

These are the boots you're issued at BMT. You get two pairs, and let me suggest that you wear the second pair as little as possible. These boots look hideous dirty, and it's wonderful to actually be able to put on some sage once you reach tech school (and this is not just my inherent girliness talking either, haha). I bought these lovelies after BMT. I've fondly nicknamed "TI boots," since seriously, EVERY Instructor I saw at Lackland owned a pair. And if they didn't, they just weren't cool. But can you blame them? These are snazzy, after all.

If you get yourself a set of BDUs, you could wear your boots though. Unfortunately, they're being fazed out next year so...

No deal on rewearing my boots huh? Just as well, they were starting to get scuffy from all the gravel and rough terrain on the job ( ... )

Haha, one's ability to pay attention to detail increases exponentially at BMT. It happens to everybody, and it's actually kind of funny in hindsight. When I first got to my tech school it took an entire week for my roommate and I to stop spazzing at how filthy and unkempt everything was. I think it was around the time the skin on my hands grew back properly after not having to touch Wexcide twice a day seven days a week I realized it was okay for things to be dusty ( ... )
