The suit and someone said Martha looked kind of whorey and chavvy (the UK equivalent of white trash) in her outfit. A few others said that she was a Rise clone. This ignited people. And those who already hated Rose and/or the ship went off and it became a huge thread. And of course they posted in their own journals ad nauseum. It actually made fandom wank. I was thankfully not at all involved. I did post twice in the thread citing differnces in how I being in the States would look at things. Where I am from nothing Rose has worn or what Martha is wearing would ever be categorized as white trash. I find the cultural differences fascinating.
