Worldcon 2013: The Totally Abridged Edition

This year, I attended my very first Worldcon, home of the Hugo Awards, many famous authors, and lots of cool people in general! It was very different from Comic-Con but still totally awesome

And I'm just going to sit over there, being totally jealous of your experience because, while I wouldn't have had the same experience, not being you and all, I totally would have loved to have been a part of the experience.

Also? The FMA:B dub is totally fun and entertaining, I think. I totally approve of the modding. Or is it Tortally? *shrug*

A flat tire?? My flight had computer problems, and then my rebooked flight was also delayed because someone threw up.

That's what they told us, a flat tire. I guess there isn't a NTB or equivalent for planes around there.

They rebooked us on a flight for the next morning that went to DC via Houston. So much for not using any leave for the trip....

B) what made the Buffy panel so bad?

It was four people I had never heard of discussing Buffy like they were the first people to have ever recognized its quality. One guy kept referring to "Josh Whedon." Josh Whedon and his brilliant dialogue. Yes, Joss is brilliant, we are well aware. What good characters. Oh my God, are you saying the show wasn't just about vampires? Wow, that is news to me. When they opened it up to questions, the first question was a woman who talked about how wonderful Spike was in comparison to Angel because he went to get his soul because he loved Buffy, and then there was a whole discussion about whether he knew what he was going for as if this had not been answered ten years ago. After one guy claimed Angel season one was the most brilliant and after that it got sloppy because Joss was improvising around Charisma's pregnancy, that Angel season one was as good as any season of Buffy except S2 or S3, I knew I did not care what any of these people had to say, and when one woman's response was "If you ask me how I view Angel, I'd say with as few

Thankfully, it was not representative of Worldcon panels in general, as most of the other ones I went to were pretty good.

I totally had to struggle to read all of the "totallys" but I managed to make it through. I am so pleased that you enjoyed your time at Worldcon. I read Rosemary and Rue and became a fan of Seanan because you (and I am annoyed by how much time has passed since then)and lots of other things that I have enjoyed because of you.
