I also really liked how a lot of the story was about stories and storytelling and how we shape our own narratives and then have to live up (or down) to them, and what that means.
It really was like a Sandman story in the Marvelverse, I thought.

SO HEARTBREAKING. And, I mean, I get that it kind of had to end that way, but it made me SO SAD for him.

YES! And all the stuff about lies and believing and how there are some lies-and stories are just lies, after all-that you have to believe because the world doesn't make sense otherwise.

And, like Sandman, I think it will be even better on a re-read now that I see the whole arc of the story and can pick up on all the foreshadowing and thematic connections.
