I've been a Hey Ocean! fan since
November 2008. The bassist is my friend's brother, and she convinced me to come see them, and I had a great time, despite getting vodka in my hair (you should read that post). Do I get to claim some sort of superiority for loving them before the
bronies discovered them? Because I do.

Hipster! J'accuse!
Seriously, though, I want to thank you for posting those MP3s up when you did. I listened to them tons, then bought their albums when I finally had the disposable income. I've since introduced them to other friends who have also loved them. (Also, "A Song About California" has been on my Rock Band wishlist for years.) The promotional video they did for Sing It Forward of them performing Annie Lennox's "Walking on Broken Glass" with the kids St. James Music Academy never fails to make me smile, either. Still envious of you getting to see not just one, but at least two, of their shows!

Mostly I'm irritated that all the YouTube comments on the videos are all about bronies now, and it is assumed that if you like Hey Ocean! you must be a brony.
I'm glad you became a fan and made more fans! And I was hoping to make it THREE shows, but the Dallas show is postponed for some reason, grr. But one of my friends who went last week is going to see them in Austin; she's become a huge fan now!
