Not a Creature Was Stirring Except for a Cow

A couple months ago at the AMWA conference in Dallas, I made a couple friends nom de plumed Jimmy Pop and Pogo. We had similar musical tastes, and Jimmy Pop even remarked that he really wanted to see Muse live, as I did. So when I discovered that they were headlining Not So Silent Night, we were on those tickets like brown on rice. Rick (ellric) was also ( Read more... )

Thanks for the report! My brother and I really wanted to go but couldn't.

Now, however, he has become a rock star so he can point at things
aha now I need to become a rock star.

THEY DID A HARMONICA INTRO TO KNIGHTS OF CYDONIA? AWESOME
and I'm glad to hear that "New Born" is a crowd favorite. It's one of my favorites too.

Well, it was cheaper and safer than having a stampede of horses onstage.

Emily really likes that dress. Observe:

Okay, that's not the same dress at all.

Ha! You just read minds.

Next up was 30 Seconds to Mars! They had "Carmina Burana" announce their entrance, which was kind of cliché and douchey, honestly.

If you are not familiar with the band, you may be familiar with the lead singer.

Even I know 30 Seconds to Mars.

Hi, I'm Jared Leto. You may remember me from such television shows as My So-Called Life and such movies as Fight Club and Requiem for a Dream.

And American Psycho, which -- with Fight Club seems to indicate that even Jared Leto thinks Jared Leto is too pretty.

My heart was racing reading about the near-loss of your glasses.

Whew.

And great pics. I would have been freaked by the white balloons too. Because I am not a number.

It wasn't a white suit, it was GOLD LAME! With a leopard print lining on the jacket! It was epic! Unfortunately I thought he was just a *tad* too nasal live, but their energy was great ( ... )

You were there too! Aw, I wish I'd known so I could have flagged you down with my book.

And he loves to SPIN while he's singing - he needs lots of room.
Hee! I did enjoy his antics.

But honestly I really did enjoy the set, and I like their energy and intensity
Yeah, they did have a lot of that.

(and I was really glad that they got to finish their set, and that he realized that we needed a little bit of coaching on the sing-along part of their newest song).
Yeah, I was wondering why I was the only one singing that part. I had been practicing!

Oh crap, next time warn a girl when writing about something like your glasses. I was panicking right along with you. It really was a miracle they survived! Maybe it was good karma from the airport book returning, whatever it was, whew.

Ahahah, I liked your observations on 30StM. We really should all become rock stars so we could point at stuff.

I also enjoyed being squeezed in between several women. Shh.

The last concert I went to was ages ago and we were pretty close to the barrier. As soon as the main act came out there was a surge towards the stage rendering us virtually unable to move. While attempting to breathe I hear the girl pressed up behind me exclaim "Oh my god, I didn't know my boobs could make star shapes!" I would've fallen over from laughing if it weren't for all of the bodies holding me up right.

Yay for a new Muse concert for you! I only have "Starlight" by Muse, what do you recommend I start with?

Oh my! Uh, well, "Time Is Running Out" was the first Muse song I ever heard. Followed by "Hysteria." Other favorites from that album include "Stockholm Syndrome" and "Apocalypse Please." And "Falling Away with You." And a bunch of others. I also recommend "Take a Bow" and "New Born" and "Bliss" as starters. Then you can move to the weirder ones.
