Wire fans! You really need to watch 100 Greatest Wire Quotes in 10 Minutes. It doesn't hit every moment I would, but, holy shit, it makes me want to rewatch the whole series RIGHT NOW. It really is a fantastic show. I'm sorry, but I've become one of Those People. You really need to watch The Wire, you guys. But don't watch that video if you haven't ( Read more... )

Huh. I got a Canadian coin from the bank once, but I can't say I've ever received out-of-date European currency before.

I haven't seen the show, but I was terribly amused at "You're taking notes on the criminal conspiracy?"

Instead, you can watch the Galactica get repossessed.
I snickered throughout.

A 1972 French franc.
Maybe it has collector's value? You could wind up making a profit on this.

You'd think that they'd be more careful about currency, being a bank and all.

I thought that I would share my Bad High School Poetry.
Heh. I also was forced to write poetry in high school, much to my dismay. (Not a fan of poetry.) One of them was about the snooze button on my alarm clock. I felt it was all pretty terrible, but for some reason the teacher kept using them for examples.

However, automatic +5 points for referencing Lando Calrissian. :-D

Oh yeah, that is definitely one of the best lines in the show. The show can be hilarious at times, and no one mentions it.

It's really well done.

Oooh. Maybe.

I suppose terrible is relative at that age.

"The fly of butter"? That's awful. I've got to find some of my Bad High School Poetry to see if it compares to "the fly of butter."
Ha ha ha. It's POETIC. I do like the flow of "The fly of butter, no stranger to the rainbow." Even though "fly of butter" really makes no sense. But "no stranger to the rainbow" works.

I don't think the Superman poem counts as Bad High School Poetry, though. Because I love it.
Heh. It's cute and fluffy.

I think "Don your youthful raiment" has to be my favorite line of all, though.
I like that line too! I mean, it's vocabutastic, but I think it is actually a pretty good use of the word "raiment."

I have been meaning to watch the Wire for a long time now. But I just know that when I do see it, I am going to cry like a little girl. Since the wire seems so raw and real, and represenative of so many of the things wrong with our country, that I feel like I really need to brace myself before watching it. Plus these days, the tv I watch is mostly for relaxation purposes. Still after watching that amazing clip (I know I was bad, but I'm always blase about spoilers) I feel intrigued by the show more than ever. I think I know what I'm getting myself for the holidays now.

Oh yeah. It made me angry. And that was unexpected and unlike me, because I don't normally get angry about things like that. But holy shit, this country.

There's so much in that clip that if you go in cold, you probably won't understand the really spoilery stuff, and, hopefully, you won't remember it when you watch the show and get spoiled.

I feel intrigued by the show more than ever.
Awesome!! Let me know what you think of it.

I think we all wrote bad teenage poetry. I'm not sure I want to take credit for inspiring you to post yours, though. *g*

Too bad! You did! And now Shakespeare hates my emo poems! Crap.

Luckily, I wrote my last poem at 19, so it still counts as bad teenage poetry.
