San Francisco in a Day

Oct 04, 2009 22:42

If you knew me back in my Rice days, you may remember Katie. She played a very important role in my life, sometimes without even knowing it. For instance, she was the first person to introduce me to Farscape. And she also showed me my first anime. Of course, I didn't really get into either of those things until years later ( Read more... )

pictures, pimpings, my city let me show you it, real life friends, personal, i'm a moron, rice, girls, my year(s) of (new) meats, i heart public transportation, such is life, food, pesceducation

Oh man, that sushi meal sounds amazing.

Silent Gondoliers is real!!! I must find a copy. He totally took me in with Princess Bride. Someone asked me if I had ever read it and I said "Yes! Well, the abridged version." (pause) "Brooke, there isn't an unabridged version." "..oh." Being set in the totally real country of FLORIN didn't alert me, because I'm such a sucker. Well played, sir! So I am totally charmed to find the first reviewer on Amazon chatting about Mr. Morgenstern's writing rather than Mr. Goldman's. Hee.

You are not the first person I have met who was taken in! Goldman commits to the ruse fully and brilliantly.

I enjoyed The Silent Gondolier, although it's no The Princess Bride. (But how many things are?)

Also, you did order your copy of Wesley and Buttercup's reunion scene, right?

Don't quote me on this, but I think I have been to YoYo myself, last time I was there. The decor look awful familiar.

I like it when I know everyone in your pictures. I would be jealous, but my pictures from the weekend have Emily and Rachel and Dan and Joe and Amy (and other Lindsay - since it was her wedding I guess she was THE Lindsay in this case - but I don't think you really knew her) in them, so I guess it's a wash.

Also, I really think you would enjoy Expiration Date.

Nice!

Would I? Hmm. I will add it and Last Call to the ever-growing List, then.

Is it wrong that $40 for dinner seems about par for the course to me?

You are some fancypants foodie, aren't you!

$40 isn't actually that crazy, but it was a lot for how much food we each individually got. And it's much more than I am used to spending on dinner.

I'm really not!

But with wine and appetizers and dessert and tip and tax, it will often come out in that range.

I get what you're saying about the amount of food you individually got. That would probably strike me, also. Especially if I weren't full/satisfied after spending that money.

Oh, balls, I forgot to actually mention that! Because I was still feeling hungry near the end of the meal, but after it was done, I was actually quite satiated. Not stuffed, but not hungry either.
