Funny enough, I also finally got bookshelves after having lived in the same place for three years. Good looking out.

I mentioned the things I liked about it in my review, but, in short, it's very good. It's a solid tale with an interesting mix of noir tropes and faerie lore told by a compelling protagonist. Since one of the main strengths is the worldbuilding, it's a great beginning-even though it can be enjoyed on its own, there are loose ends (mostly unconnected with the main plot) still left to be explored-and I hope to be more blown away by the following books in the series, now that she's established the characters. I have no doubt they'll be just as enjoyable and probably more, given that I've enjoyed some of her other unpublished books quite a bit.
Plus, the series is set in San Francisco, so it's fun for locals. The first chapter starts in the Mission Safeway! Or the Market Safeway. You know, that one Safeway.

Proper bookshelves make everything better, don't they? We finally got a big one for our living room a few months back, and I was so pleased... but now it's filled to overflowing again, and I'm back to stuffing books under coffee tables and in other odd places for easy access. :( Foiled again!

And I do clearly remember that time you got me hooked on The Guild, but I realize I didn't comment on that post, so thanks for that! Yay season 3!
