The Lieutenant of Inishmore, by Martin McDonagh (The Pillowman and In Bruges), is the funniest play about dead cats ever. It's also the only
non-musical play I've seen where the entire cast ends up covered in blood. It's like a hilarious Irish version of

Well, if you ever want to see another play that probably requires the stage crew to use mops in the end (though it's more awesomely scary than funny), you can always try Bug.
Man, I loved Inishmore, though, and I think it was terribly overlooked when it was on Broadway. (The History Boys was the big play sensation that year.) Sounds like you had fun!
