I would like to thank Martin Luther King, Jr. Not for being a pioneer in the civil rights movement, but for having a birthday in January worthy of getting a day off from work, freeing me up to take an extra day off and go visit my best friend, Melanie (toughcookie42), who had visited me a couple years ago. Unfortunately, she lives in Indianapolis, which is ( Read more... )

Aww, Dexter is adorable (and what a great name)!

I should get a video of my papillon sometime. She can sit, lie down, roll over, touch (my hand, a treat, a cat... she'll poke pretty much anything with her paw if I tell her to), bow, and do a high five and high ten. I love smart little dogs that like learning tricks!

I first thought the reason for having a picture of you framed by the Dutch biotech supplier company Qiagen is your employer. But then it occurred to me that their products are probably just as often used in forensics. :)

I didn't know Qiagen was Dutch! Heh. But yes, their products are quite useful in many fields.

I almost wrote that it's a German company, which to a degree is also true. I think it was founded here. But it's incorporated in the Netherlands (I suspect for tax reasons). I'm relatively familiar with the company because it was one of the first companies to go public in Germany during the big technology boom in the stock markets world wide in the 1990s. And it's always been a very solid company compared to many other pie-in-the-sky start-ups.

You have a friend with a dog named Dexter who works in Police forensics.

Dexter is just like my parents' dog.
