A Tour of Neptune: Part One

Sep 17, 2007 06:30

So remember that time I visited the Veronica Mars writers' offices and the set with fellow members of MI.net? Have you stopped caring? I hope not, because I'm about to devote too much time to finally showing off my PICTURES from those three awesometastic days. I was going to attempt to write some sort of detailed narrative, but you know what? I already did. It's right there on the website, and you can follow along there while I display visual evidence of our exploits! After focusing on the pictures, I'll add some anecdotes that didn't make it into my initial report or my cursory character assessments. Sadly, it's been, you know, seven months, so my memory is a bit fuzzy on some of it by now.

This post is NOT DIAL-UP FRIENDLY. At all.

Ooh, gotcha, we're not going into Rob's office just yet. Aren't you following along with my story?

See what I meant when I called it a run-down fairy tale castle prison that's been converted into a prison? Inside, though, it looks like this:

Dig those groovy multicolored walls? Here some alternate views:

Remember to click for a better view, if you wish.

The production offices are not as multicolored, but they have fun posters on the wall.

(P.S. I may not post every single picture, so feel free to explore the gallery for hidden treasures.)

There it is, folks. That is the "writers room." It doesn't even have a door. But it has lots of whiteboards to break stories on.

Okay, now are you ready to go into Rob's office? Here we go.

You'll notice that the flea has a privileged spot right in front of a picture of his daughter. Of course, almost every picture in the office is a picture of his daughter, so. He's also got the Mallard Fillmore comics framed, amusingly enough. Above Kelley's head is Rob on the cover of Written By (to which he self-deprecatingly remarked, "They put that guy on the cover?").

Rob Thomas explains it all. Notice the adorable picture of Greta Mae eating a sock.

Rob listens to studio notes. Check out those socks! Which Greta is not eating and Diane envies. Or mocks. Mostly mocks.

Dan Gabbe with his toys. Er, editing tools.

Fun with podcasting! Although these pictures weren't actually taken during the podcast. It's a fun little room, though.

Me and Klembom! Klembom and I! Phil Klemmer is on the left, and John Enbom is on the right. Please note their differing offices:

You can see that Phil likes breaking tennis rackets and posting pictures from Icelandic girls he saved from committing suicide, and John loves unicorns. A lot. That, or his co-workers like pranking him when he's gone for Thanksgiving.

Dan Gabbe, Diane Ruggiero, and me.

That's Mike Weiss and Hadley Klein, otherwise known as Drake and Josh, otherwise known as the guys responsible for all the awesome online content during season three. Give them a hand, folks.

That's it for the writers' offices.

We were trying for a surprise attack, but they knew we were coming.

Poor Julie gets her name written on tape. Unfortunately, we didn't get to talk to her, but we did see her sit in that chair.

Lookit! It's a flyer created by our own maka2000, right there on the set! And some stoned guy pretending to be Vanna White.

The Hearst food court! Full of fake food!

Fine, Jason Dohring is kinda hot.

Fine, really hot.

But my, my, who is that Indian chap next to him? He's quite a looker himself.

Jail picspam! Don't I look intimidating?

Five hundred House points to anyone who can place all of the set pieces featured on the wall.

Rick Pickett, ladies and gentlemen.

A peek into the inner workings of set design, courtesy of one Alfred Sole:

Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeg.

Seriously, I don't know what's with all the multicolored walls.

I kind of wanted to steal everything that was just hanging in people's offices. All sorts of paraphernalia and random props from episodes.

This may be my favorite picture of all. This is the stairway down from the production offices to the set. Awesomely, it actually became a set itself in "Spit and Eggs." Recognize it? (Right here, right now, right here, right now...)

The Neptune Grand, from the outside.

The Neptune Grand, from the inside.

Chris Lowell is a cool dude.

Mmm, craft services...

We're going to have a spin-off called Neptune 911! Marc will play Sacks, Kelly will play Inga, and I will play Sheriff Mars.

This is the same door, you guys. Is your mind blown?

That's right. There's a secret laundry room behind the drink machine.

Video Village! This is where the magic happens.

That's it for today's installment. Tune in tomorrow for the Mars apartment, Mars Investigations, and the lovely and talented Kristen Bell.
