love is love (Dustin/Devon, Josh/Devon) fanmix
This is my first fanmix. It's sort of the flip side to stttmsbwa's fanmix, and focuses on Devon/Josh and Devon/Dustin.
I really think Devon has grown up a great deal from where we saw him last year. In my head, I see Devon as someone who has never been afraid of making mistakes, and I see Josh as the type that is constantly questioning himself, holding himself back. I think that's why I find their relationship really fascinating. They learn from each other, and they challenge each other. I think, being in Europe with Josh, where Drake was no where near enough to pull Josh away, it was inevitable that Devon fell in love. But Drake is Drake, and it's always going to be that way. And Devon won't measure up to that, it doesn't matter if he cuts his hair short like Drake, or dresses like him or whatever. Now, I can see that Devon's certainly let go of Josh, and I think he's also found himself in the process.
I also think it's sort of funny how Devon's relationship with Josh is the mirror image of Dustin's relationship with Kendall. We see Devon being the new boy in Josh's life but ultimately pushed aside for Drake, who has always been by Josh's side. With Dustin, it's the opposite, he's the one that's always been there for Kendall but is the one pushed aside for the new boy in Kendall's life. Dustin is still struggling whereas, I believe, Devon has gone through that bitterness and resentment, and came out the other side, enlightened, and wiser. I guess, that's where I see Devon's connection with Dustin, he sees so much of himself in Dustin, and I think in the end, he's the one that's going to help him through it all.
