Stargate SG-1 crossover fic: Debt of Blood Part 11

Jun 04, 2010 18:19

Here is Part 11 of my crossover between Stargate: SG-1 and the D&D PC game Neverwinter Nights - set in the same universe as ‘Tabula Avatar’. Previous parts were HERE. This is the second-last chapter, there is only an Epilogue to follow, and I’ve almost completed the Epilogue and I’ll be posting it probably Monday. 9,700 words, rating R.
Debt Of Blood Part 11: To walk apart from House and Queen… )

“Oh, crap,” Jack groaned. “Carter will kill me.”

And that's the measure of Baal's failure, Jack's more worried about that than being tortured.

Once you've been tortured by a priestess of Loviatar nothing else can possibly be as bad. Except having to read Buffy Season 8 issue 35.

The scene with Ba'al felt a lot like a parody or sarcasm-drowning or something like it. Since the rest of the chapter sounded normal I was a bit thrown off course by it. I know you sometimes write pieces like what I mentioned, but I didn't expect to see it mixed with normal (for lack of a better word) stuff.

Doesn't mean I'm going to drop any of your works :) I was surprised, is all.

The scene with Ba'al wasn't meant to be parody - I was taking my portrayal of Ba'al from the way he developed later in the show, for instance when he helped Sam and Jacob/Selmak save the galaxy from the Replicators, rather than the more two-dimensional way he was portrayed in his first appearance.

Hmm... It wasn't that bad (or very bad at all) the second time around. I got a little of what you were trying to do the first time - even though the performance felt a little off - and your comment only proved that. But reading the whole scene again, I don't get that feeling anymore. .. It must have been a mix of surprised confusion and the very late hour at which I read this chapter.

I apologize if my wording ruffled any feathers. I had a difficult time (considering that I was 5min away from going to sleep) in finding the correct words to present that I was trying to say.

Wonderful work, as always. I am quite looking forward to the epilogue. I do hope we will get some vignettes of Cierre on an SG team. I can't help but wonder how a meeting between Cierre and Vala would go...

Thank you! I've completed all the parts of the epilogue that directly relate to the plot and I'm busy writing a few vignettes to bring it up to a full chapter length.
