I went to see Malcom Middleton (of Arab Strap fame) on wednesday evening. He was playing at Kulturhuset, on the roof, which is pleasent cause it's out in the fresh air and sunshine and you can see the true hideousness that is Sergels Torg from a distance ( Read more... )

Sounds like you're doing great with Polly. I suppose it's hard not to compare yourselves with other parents but if she's happy there's no need to. Children can be the most sociable little beings together.

Yeah, kinda what i said. You can read as many books as you like on child psychology but can only ever really go after how you're own child seems. Polly seems happy, if that changes, I guess we'll work it out but no need worrying till it happens.

'modern music reviewing always seems to be a matter of comparing.' Reviewing of all sorts actually...books ,films etc. I think we've become the 'if you liked that, you'll like this' society. It all feels so lazy to me.

'Lola's convinced that all other parents leave there kids at daycare for just a couple of hours,'
No....its not that easy to describe other peoples lives. I know many children who are looked in day care / childminded for the whole day. I bet Polly will come to love her childminder and come to really enjoy being with her and knowing shes got people who love her at home too. Its important that she forms attachments to other adults, isn't it?

'Polly'll be OK, we're great parents when we're around and we are around for most of the time, just maybe a few hours less than some.' Damn right.

In depth disscussion gone out the window really. Noone analyses anything anymore, partly I think cause they're worried they'll get accused of pseudo intellectualism. There are worse things. Mostly it's about reviewers egos, I've read too many that have basialy said "I don't like this cause I'm too cool to like this but it sounds like (insert some obscure band to show off depth of musical knowledge). There's one reviewer for the pop/rock section of a paper in sweden who says in virtually every review that he's too intelligent to like this music, cause really he'd rather be reading Strindbeg and listening to Opera. Every review, I'm not joking.

Thanks for the support, Lola's working at toughening herself up, she knows I'm right really.

No, I knew that. Very exciting. 12th of November I think it's due. I even heard a rumour that she might tour but not sure what to make of that.
