Bridge had a problem.  Well, maybe problem wasn't the correct term for it.  Maybe conundrum.  A mystery.  Oh!  An enigma!  Yeah, that was it.  Wasn't that a saying about the female sex?  They were an enigma?  Bridge hadn't put too much stock in that thought, but he was beginning to reconsider his stance on women.  Apparently interacting with them ( Read more... )

There were some things Devon expected when he came home (Ellie in a flurry of wedding planning, Ellie not home at all, Chuck and/or Morgan doing something completely beyond Devon's comprehension) and some things he dreamed of (Ellie grinning before a home cooked meal, a little Woodcomb to greet him at the door).

None of those things involved Bridge standing on his head in the sand. At all...though from now on, Devon made a mental note to add Bridge to the list.

"Hey, pal," he said, stopping a few feet away. "You know, I have gravity boots. I've still gotta install them in the rec center, but you can use those, if you're into the whole..." he gestured vaguely, "thing."

Bridge blinked, cocking his head to one side so he could gaze at Devon better from his unorthodox viewing angle. "I might just take you up on that," he said, sprouting a sudden grin. "Thanks. But this is good for balance, too. And I think I need balance now more than I need ideas."

Devon crossed his arms and tilted his head to the side, taking in Bridge's form. "You've got great form, you know. It's pretty impressive."

Where here Devon might have followed that up with a friendly slap on Bridge's back, he clapped his hands together instead. "So, what's up? Not that you're not welcome, but you don't usually hang out upside down in front of my hut."

"Very observant of you," Bridge said, and after complimenting Devon he tipped his legs forward until he was on his feet again. He shook his head to get some of the blood and ideas loose as he brushed sand from his hands. "I think I've got a problem with a girl. Or girls. Or girls in general, I can't really tell."
