I have been thinking along these lines recently myself. Lots of processing to do.

It sounds more, to me, like a description of mutual infatuation, adoration, or lust. Love, to me, turns the attention of all of that combined energy to outward goals, people (friends, family, etc) surrounding, and generally everywhere else - it's mutual adoration and infatuation that carry that kind of longing-gaze/war of affection.

The bond between the two makes the partnership that makes kicking ass at external goals possible.
