I was gonna meet up with
ryanboi earlier to get the DS browser at Funzsquare @ Far East.
Which I eventually did, bumped into
wishingleaf & subsequently
hianhwee in the shop itself, I can't decide if I wanted to get the card as I spent quite a bit earlier ...
Rewind ....
Since I was early, I had to window shop at Isetan Supermarket, there was this 味祭り going on and I had to chance upon some exotic looking green tea. The Japanese saleslady was talking to me in Japanese, so happy. But I could only understand 50% of what she said ...
My eyes got fixed on a big pack of 抹茶, it's $30 for 100g.
Having paid like $60 for 20g of heavenly 抹茶 at Fukujuen, I was skeptical, how good might this cheaper 抹茶 taste like. But alas, there wasn't any samples. Don't get me wrong, when you have tasted the really good ones, you are never take a look at those OSK teabags anymore, and trust me, I've gotten some really horrible 抹茶 before, price does make some difference.
She somehow/somewhat managed to divert my attention to some 緑茶, which I usually think is a lower grade compared to 玉露 but it's selling at an exorbitant price! I asked for a sample and the rest is history ... The nice Japanese lady decided to give me this teapot for free, it's selling at $25.40. She probably took pity on my can barely make it Japanese. As my Fukujuen 玄米茶 is running low, I decided to get a packet of theirs as well, it's an interesting combination of 緑茶 + 玄米 + 抹茶. Something different from what Fukujuen has to offer.
手づくり茶
抹茶入玄米茶
Mum was eyeing me suspiciously from a corner like a curious cat while I was busy taking photos and typing this. I shall make her a cup in case she starts her sermon...
Btw, the 手づくり茶 is $150 & the 抹茶入玄米茶 is $18 ...
As usual, if you are interested to sample, I can offer you a dose or two. =)
But it will be the last day tomorrow, make a trip down if you want to grab some.
Else, there's always Fukujuen at Takashimaya Basement 1.
I might make a trip back for my 抹茶 tomorrow. Hmmm.
