Today was one of my "firsts" since becoming a nurse a year ago...today was the first time I went to the funeral of a patient. Lately it seems like we've had a lot of deaths in the PICU, and while all of them affect me in some way, this one was particularly hard. Oh, wow! That is so sad! I don't think I could ever work in the medical field for this very reason. It would tear me up!

Kudos to you for making this baby girl's short life a little better. I know the nurses were all awesome when Joseph was in NICU for 4 days when he was first born. It truly takes a special person to be a nurse.

Wow, thank you! Despite sad times like these, I really do enjoy what I do. I'm glad I had the chance to be a part of her life, however short it was. Sometimes I think back to all the kids I've met over the past year in the PICU, and I feel lucky to have the chance to interact with these special people.

By the way, I admire what you do as well. I enjoy reading in your journal about the cool activities and stuff you do with your students, and it really seems like you have a passion for what you teach.
