Just watched an interview with Terri Schiavo's parents, live from Rome where they got to touch the Pope, talking about 'judicial homicide' and the establishment of a foundation in their daughter's name to help put a stop to euthanasia ( Read more... )

I saw that clip as well.

I honestly don't know enough about the Schiavo case to make an informed comment. I know that sounds *unbelievable* :) but, it's true.

I still don't know what her husband did / did not allow the doctors/nurses to do for Terry.

All I know is that there was and is a great deal of enmity, which clouds much of the discussion.

I think your post is very thoughtful and logical.

Yes, I also heard that Michael (I think that's her husband's name) either took nursing courses or 'became' a nurse - I'm not sure which.

From the parents' reports, yes, you would have thought she was being abused and there are people on my f-list who believe that he *did* abuse her. Who knows?

Yes, we have hospices here and you're right - they're places for people to live and die 'with dignity'.

And - completely off-topic :)

Hey there. I'm feeling 100% more alive today than I did yesterday, and about 500X better than I did the days before that. Off all sleepy-making medications (may be in withdrawal - brain is in overdrive and hyper for some reason). Road to recovery, here I come. Hopefully ( ... )
