Should a newbie begin with the Gods of the Arena or Blood and Sand?

How would you introduce a newbie to the show? With the prequel or the first season?

Edit: Haha, I guess that answers my question, but what about a fan of the show, where should they start a rewatch? Chronological order prequel first or in the order that the show aired?
